Last Month, I went to the NAR Convention in Orlando with 2 women from my office. I went to the convention thinking that I was going to go to amazing classes, learn awesome information from great instructors, and meet new people from all across the county. I not only learned that, I also learned an Unexpected Lesson.
One of the women that I went to the Convention with, very sick on the last day of the convention. We spent that last day in the Emergency Room. Now please note, that the 3 of us are people who like to be in control and have very specific schedules that we stick to. Well, our precious little schedules were shot to hell!
So, What was this Unexpected Lesson, you ask? Patience and Team Work.
Being someone who lives by his schedule, this situation threw all of that away. Once my co-worker was released from the Hospital we had very little time to change our flight times and lodging. Staying an extra day was not in our plan. The 3 of us worked together and got what work we could get done from our mobile office in Orlando, Florida!
The Patience it took, while not having any control of anything that day, as well as, the Team Work it took to completely change our plans in such little time, is nothing I would like to repeat but showed that I did learn something at the NAR Convention. (side note: the Map feature on my iPhone was a lifesaver!)
